The latest policy is still being reviewed by the attorney. Once I have the recent information on this issue it will be posted here and I can assure you that an email will go out to all members.
The latest policy is still being reviewed by the attorney. Once I have the recent information on this issue it will be posted here and I can assure you that an email will go out to all members.
I didn't realize it's been since July of last year since I last posted to this blog and I apologize for that. Updates were posted in the group here on the website through out the process, just not publicly.
On June 21st it will be one year since the club was faced with no choice but to close the trail system because we were unable to secure an insurance policy to cover the club and it's landowners. Our President & Vice President and Anthony G. have been working tirelessly to find a policy that would meet the requirements of our landowners, board members and of course you, the membership.
The monthly meeting was held last evening (May 12, 2025) in what many thought was going to be the clubs last regular meetings. The plan was in place to start processing refunds to all members BUT!!!! That wasn't the case and here is why.
Our President contacted the Director of NYSORVA just before the regular meeting last month and he said that he was going to be interviewing a company that has provided insurance for a couple of clubs in the TUG HILL Region one being APPLE VALLEY. Mr. Dinga stated that the club would have to proceed on it's own as he wasn't going to get involved. Our President got in contact with the insurance agent and he stated that he could get the club what they were looking for. After a back and forth with questions it was decided to move forward with this insurance company. The agent stated that once he received all the documents he requested from the club it would take a couple days to get a policy written. Well if there is one thing we have all learned in this process, things just don't move that quick.
So the latest news is this. A policy has been written that has the requirements the club needs to protect itself, landowners & members. This policy has been sent to a local attorney for review so that we can be certain it's what's needed. We hope to hear back from the attorney by the end of this week.
To sum it up, there was a discussion on how the club moves forward after receiving this news. Refunds have been put on hold until the results are finalized. In the event the club obtains an insurance policy, all paid members for the 2024 riding season will not be required to pay dues for the 2025 riding season. I would like to thank everyone on behalf of the Board of Directors for your patients with this issue.
The process will change slightly, new applications for this riding season will be required and all members, family members & guests will be required to submit a new WAIVER OF LIABILITY. This WAIVER must be legible and any WAIVER submitted that isn't, will be returned and you will be required to submit a new one. You won't be able to ride the trail system until this step is completed. This form will be updated so that the club can better track who has one on file, we just have to work out final details after talking with the attorney.
Well, there you have it, the latest on what has been happening behind the scene regarding the clubs insurance coverage. Please take a minute to say a prayer, we can use all the help we can get, even from our superior being. ONE other thing we would like to ask. Please hold all emails and phone calls regarding this matter. Once we have an answer, everyone will be notified of the outcome.
ONE MORE THING:
In the event the club is able to secure this insurance policy, the trail system has not been used in a year which means there has not been any maintenance done. We will be calling on all members to help us get these trails ridable. The board members will do a sweep of the system to document areas that need to be addressed before the system can be opened to it's members. We will be scheduling a work party to get this done promptly. If your able we could use the help. STAND BY FOR NEWS
Just when we thought all was lost in our search for insurance, the afternoon of our monthly meeting the club president talked on the phone with an insurance company who says they can insure the club. The club has heard the same story over & over for what has been almost a year. While the board & members present are hopeful that this will be what the club needs, it remains to be seen, but we are hopeful.
Memberships re-imbursements were going to start on Tuesday April 14, 2025 but because of the stated above has been put on hold pending the results. This is all I have at this point, stay tuned, I will update as soon as I have more information.
Kind Regards,
Your Club Secretary
