James E. “Jim” Oudekerk Sr., 80, passed away unexpectedly on September 19, 2025.
Born on April 29, 1945, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Edward and Rita (St. John) Oudekerk.
Jim graduated from Glens Falls High School in 1963. Following graduation Jim enlisted into the United States
Navy and served aboard the U.S.S. Independence (CV62) from 1963 till 1967 in the Mediterranean and the Gulf
of Tonkin during the Viet Nam War.
He started his career at Hercules and then went on to become a millwright at Finch Pruyn in Glens Falls until
his retirement in 2006.
Jim enjoyed being outdoors whether it was boating or riding his quad with the Foothills ATV Riders Club.
Left to cherish his memory include his children, Jim Oudekerk Jr., and his wife, Kim, Gherid Oudekerk; his
grandchildren, Paige, Kevin, Connor, Luke, Jaxxin and Gabriella Oudekerk; his sister, Shirley Doughtery and
her husband, Jim; along with several nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
At Jim’s request there will be no calling hours.
A full military service will be conducted at 12pm on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at Gerald B.H. Solomon
Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY. All are welcome.
